Finn Allen, the impact sub who replaced Varun Chakravarthy, fell early for 1, caught by Dube off Anshul Kamboj at 13/1. Sunil Narine smashed 24 off 17 (2 fours, 2 sixes) before Khaleel Ahmed had him caught at 29/2.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane (28 off 22, 2 sixes) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (27 off 19, 3 fours, 1 six) steadied things with a 50-run third-wicket stand in 30 balls. KKR reached 50 in 7.3 overs and were 58/2 at the strategic timeout.

But Noor Ahmad changed everything. He dismissed Rahane (c Gaikwad), Rinku Singh (6 off 12, c Dube), and Cameron Green (0 off 1, bowled) in quick succession. KKR went from 85/3 to 90/6 in the space of 2 overs.

Rovman Powell (31* off 22, 1 four, 2 sixes) and Ramandeep Singh (35 off 23, 4 fours, 1 six) staged a late fight. Their seventh-wicket stand produced 63 runs in 32 balls, but the required rate had climbed too high.

Key Highlights: CSK vs KKR IPL 2026 Match 22

  • Noor Ahmad’s match-winning spell: 3/21 in 4 overs at an economy of 5.25, with 8 dot balls. He dismissed Rahane, Rinku, and Green to trigger KKR’s collapse from 85/3 to 90/6. Named POTM.
  • Mhatre’s powerplay blitz: 38 off 17 (SR: 223.52) with 6 fours and 2 sixes. His aggression in the first 6 overs (CSK posted 72/2 in the powerplay) set the foundation.
  • KKR collapsed from 85/3 to 90/6: Three wickets for 5 runs in 2 overs. Noor Ahmad took all three. KKR’s middle order had no answer to his left-arm wrist spin on a turning Chennai surface.
  • Powell-Ramandeep stand was too late: 63 runs in 32 balls for the seventh wicket. Powell’s 31* off 22 and Ramandeep’s 35 off 23 were excellent, but by then KKR needed over 14 per over.
  • CSK’s top 5 all contributed: Samson (48), Mhatre (38), Brevis (41), Sarfaraz (23), and Gaikwad (7). No one scored a big hundred, but five meaningful contributions built a total no KKR bowler could contain.
  • KKR’s losing streak extends: This is KKR’s fourth consecutive loss (MI, SRH, LSG, now CSK). They sit at #10 in the table. The pressure on Rahane’s captaincy is immense.
  • Impact subs: CSK replaced Mhatre with Akeal Hosein at 19.6 overs of their innings. Hosein took 1/26. KKR brought in Finn Allen for Chakravarthy, but Allen fell for 1.

Verdict: CSK Registered their 2nd Win and looking forward to go with this Strong Mindset

CSK needed this win badly after a difficult start to the season. Noor Ahmad’s spell was the difference. On a Chennai surface offering turn, his 3/21 destroyed KKR’s middle order. For KKR, the losing run is becoming a crisis. Four straight defeats, bottom of the table, and no obvious fix for a batting lineup that keeps collapsing in the middl
