DC Highest Scores in IPL begin with 257/4, posted against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 27 April 2024, the highest total this franchise has ever put on the board.
A franchise that has been part of the IPL since 2008, two different names, and a batting lineup that kept reinventing itself every few years.
The names at the top of the order kept changing, but the results at the end of each of these ten innings never did. Every single one ended in a win. Some totals were built on dominant opening stands. Others came from middle-order rescues when the innings was falling apart.
KL Rahul added 539 runs in IPL 2025, the latest name in a long line of match-winners DC have produced.

1. 257/4 vs MI – Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, 27 April 2024
Man of the Match: Jake Fraser-McGurk
The Mumbai Indians chose to field first on a flat Delhi surface and paid for it from ball one. Fraser-McGurk is the kind of opener who makes bowlers look ordinary, and that is exactly what happened. Fifty off 15 balls. Out for 84 off 27.
By the time he was caught in the 7.3rd over, DC had already posted 114 without loss, and the match was effectively settled.
Luke Wood conceded 68 in 4 overs, Hardik Pandya leaked 41 in just 2, and even Bumrah, usually the most reliable bowler in any attack, went for 35 in 4 overs. Shai Hope came in and hit 41 off 17 balls, and Tristan Stubbs finished unbeaten on 48 off 25 to take DC to 257.
MI elected to field. Tilak Varma made 63, and Tim David hit 37 in reply, but chasing 258 at Delhi proved beyond MI. They ended on 247, losing by 10 runs.
2. 231/4 vs Kings XI Punjab – Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, 23 April 2011
Man of the Match: David Warner
There are opening partnerships, and then there is this one. Virender Sehwag and David Warner put on 146 before Kings XI Punjab could take their first wicket, and by the time both were dismissed within four overs of each other, the match was already done.
Sehwag made 77 off 35 balls, Warner made 77 off 48.
Ryan Harris went for 48 in 4 overs, and Shalabh Srivastava conceded 46 in 4 without breaking the stand. Venugopal Rao made 28 not out off 15, and Naman Ojha hit 19 off 8 in the closing overs to bring DC to 231.
Kings XI elected to field. Shaun Marsh made 95 off 46 balls in Punjab’s reply, a brilliant innings that kept the chase alive until he fell in the 17.4th over. But 231 was always going to be too many, and Kings XI ended on 202, losing by 29 runs.
3. 228/4 vs KKR – Sharjah Cricket Stadium, 3 October 2020
Man of the Match: Shreyas Iyer
IPL 2020 was moved to the UAE due to the pandemic. Sharjah, with its compact boundaries and fast outfield, was a venue where big scores came regularly that season.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw opened together and put on 56 before Dhawan was caught for 26 off 16 balls in the 5.5th over. Shaw pushed on to 66 off 41 before falling in the 12.4th over.
What followed was Iyer at his most destructive. He finished unbeaten on 88 off 38 balls, seven fours and six sixes, going through gears that most batters simply do not have. Rishabh Pant added 38 off 17 alongside him.
Pat Cummins and Varun Chakravarthy both conceded 49 in their 4 overs each for KKR. KKR elected to field. Eoin Morgan smashed 44 off 18, and Rahul Tripathi hit 36 off 16 in the closing overs to make KKR’s reply competitive, but they finished on 210, losing by 18 runs.
4. 224/4 vs GT – Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, 24 April 2024
Man of the Match: Rishabh Pant
Sandeep Warrier bowled Delhi into a corner early. Fraser-McGurk gone for 23, Prithvi Shaw gone for 11, Shai Hope gone for 5. DC were 44 for 3 inside 5.4 overs, and the innings needed a complete reset.
Axar Patel came in at three and provided exactly that. He is primarily known as a left-arm spinner and bowling all-rounder, but here he made 66 off 43 balls, the kind of innings that does not get talked about enough.
Pant joined him, and the two added 113 runs together for the fourth wicket. Pant finished on 88 not out off 43 balls, five fours and eight sixes, and Tristan Stubbs smashed 26 off just 7 balls in the last over. Mohit Sharma conceded 73 in 4 overs at 18.25 an over for Gujarat.
GT elected to field. David Miller hit 55 off 23, and Sai Sudharsan made 65 off 39 in reply, but GT ended on 220, losing by 4 runs in the closest finish across all ten innings in this list.
5. 221/8 vs RR – Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, 7 May 2024
Man of the Match: Kuldeep Yadav
DC lost eight wickets and still came out on top. Ravichandran Ashwin made it very difficult from the start, taking 3 wickets for just 24 runs in 4 overs and breaking DC’s top order apart.
Fraser-McGurk made 50 off 20 balls before Ashwin removed him. By the 13.5th over, DC were 150 for 5, and the innings looked set to reach 190 at best.
Abishek Porel had other ideas. He made 65 off 36 balls through the middle overs and kept DC’s score moving, then Tristan Stubbs came in and hit 41 off 20 balls in the death to push DC past 220.
Avesh Khan conceded 42 in just 2 overs. RR elected to field. Sanju Samson carried Rajasthan’s chase with 86 off 46 balls and had the match in the balance until his dismissal in the 15th over. RR lost shape quickly after that and ended on 201, losing by 20 runs. Kuldeep Yadav finished with 2 wickets for 25 to seal the result.
6. 219/4 vs KKR – Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, 27 April 2018
Man of the Match: Shreyas Iyer
Captaincy can do strange things to a player on the first day. For Shreyas Iyer, it unlocked something.
Delhi Daredevils handed him the armband for the first time against KKR at the Kotla in April 2018, and he responded with 93 not out off 40 balls, three fours and ten sixes, an innings that announced his leadership immediately.
KKR chose to field, and Prithvi Shaw made 62 off 44 balls before falling in the 13.6th over. Colin Munro had already gone at 59 in the 6.6th over, and Iyer batted through the middle and death overs with Glenn Maxwell adding 27 off 18 in the final stretch.
Shivam Mavi was the most expensive bowler for KKR, going for 58 runs in 4 overs. KKR elected to field. KKR’s reply fell apart inside the powerplay, losing four wickets in the first six overs. Andre Russell made 44 and Shubman Gill scored 37, but KKR ended on 164, losing by 55 runs.
7. 215/5 vs KKR – Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, 10 April 2022
Man of the Match: Kuldeep Yadav
This was a collective effort more than an individual one. Warner, new to DC that season, and Prithvi Shaw started well together, putting on 93 before Shaw fell for 51 off 29 balls in the 8.4th over.
Warner pushed on to 61 off 45 before being caught in the 16.4th over. With DC at 166 for 5 in the 16th over, the lower order came through.
Shardul Thakur smashed 29 off 11 balls, and Axar Patel made 22 not out off 14, the two of them adding 49 runs together to push DC past 215.
Sunil Narine was extremely tight for KKR, going for just 21 in 4 overs at an economy of 5.25. KKR elected to field. Shreyas Iyer, facing his former team, made 54 off 33 for KKR before being stumped off Kuldeep Yadav, who took 4 wickets in total.
KKR were bowled out for 171, losing by 44 runs.
8. 214/3 vs Gujarat Lions – Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, 4 May 2017
Man of the Match: Rishabh Pant
Gujarat Lions put up 208 in their 20 overs. Suresh Raina made 77 off 43 balls, and Dinesh Karthik hit 65 off 34, a strong total built on a solid third-wicket partnership.
Delhi Daredevils chased it down in 17.3 overs. Sanju Samson gave DC the foundation with 61 off 31 balls at the top, and he and Pant put on 143 together for the second wicket before Samson fell in the 13.2nd over.
Pant was 19 years old and barely looked like a teenager. He made 97 off 43 balls, six fours and nine sixes, and was dismissed in the 14.3rd over with the match already won.
Pradeep Sangwan and Basil Thampi both conceded over 40 runs each for Gujarat. Delhi Daredevils elected to field. Corey Anderson finished the chase unbeaten on 18 off 12 balls alongside Iyer, and DC won by 7 wickets with 15 balls remaining.
9. 213/2 vs Punjab Kings – HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala, 17 May 2023
Man of the Match: Rilee Rossouw
Punjab Kings chose to field first at Dharamsala, a venue known for its pace-friendly conditions and high-scoring matches. David Warner and Prithvi Shaw put on 94 for the first wicket before Warner fell for 46 off 31 balls in the 10.2nd over.
Shaw continued to 54 off 38 before Sam Curran dismissed him in the 14.6th over. DC were 148 for 2 at that stage with 5 overs remaining and 65 more runs needed.
Rilee Rossouw came in and completely changed the tempo. He hit 82 not out off 37 balls, six fours and six sixes, while Phil Salt made 26 not out off 14 alongside him to take DC to 213. Nathan Ellis conceded 46 in 4 overs, and Harpreet Brar went for 39 in 3.
Punjab elected to field. Liam Livingstone made 94 off 48 balls in reply and nearly pulled off an extraordinary chase on his own before being dismissed on the final ball of the innings.
Punjab ended on 198, falling 15 runs short.
10. 213/6 vs MI – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, 24 March 2019
Man of the Match: Rishabh Pant
It was the first match of DC’s 2019 season at the Wankhede, and they were 29 for 2 inside four overs.
The innings needed someone to steady things, and Shikhar Dhawan did exactly that. He made 43 off 36 balls alongside Colin Ingram, who scored 47 off 32, as the two rebuilt the innings through the middle overs, giving DC a competitive platform.
Then Pant walked in at 131 for 4 in the 15th over and hit 78 not out off just 27 balls, seven fours and seven sixes. That shift from 131 to 213 in five overs tells the whole story. Mitchell McClenaghan took 3 wickets for MI but conceded 40 in 4 overs. Bumrah gave nothing away, conceding 40 in 4 overs with full control.
MI elected to field. Yuvraj Singh made 53 and Krunal Pandya hit 32 off 15 in reply, but Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets for just 23 runs, and MI ended on 176, losing by 37 runs.
