Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) announced their IPL arrival with a 222/3 on the very first night of the tournament in 2008, and they have been producing run-fests at Eden Gardens ever since. KKR’s highest score in IPL stands at 272/7, currently the fifth-highest team total in IPL history, scored against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
SRH have since posted four higher totals across 2024 and 2025, but KKR’s 272 remains the highest by any non-SRH franchise. The 2024 season alone added five entries to this list, reflecting KKR’s extraordinary batting firepower during their title-winning campaign.
Three of the top ten totals ended in defeat, a reminder that even 250 is not safe in modern T20 cricket. From Sunil Narine’s reinvention as an opener to Brendon McCullum’s inaugural IPL classic, here are the top 10 highest scores by KKR in the IPL.

Here is the Brief Overview of KKR’s Highest Totals in IPL
1. 272/7 vs Delhi Capitals: 3 April 2024, Visakhapatnam
Sunil Narine smashed his career-best 85 off 39 balls, opening the innings with typical fearlessness. Teenaged Angkrish Raghuvanshi matched him with a composed 54 off 27 on his first big outing. Andre Russell added 41 off 19 in the death overs.

KKR posted 272/7, just five runs short of SRH’s then-record of 277/3 set earlier that season. Ishant Sharma’s yorker to dismiss Russell in the final over prevented KKR from overtaking SRH. DC crumbled to 166, handing KKR a 106-run victory. While SRH have since pushed the all-time record to 287/3, KKR’s 272 remains the highest total by any franchise other than Hyderabad.
2. 261/6 vs Punjab Kings: 26 April 2024, Kolkata
Sunil Narine (71 off 32) and Phil Salt (75 off 37) put on 138 for the opening wicket in just 10.2 overs at Eden Gardens. Andre Russell (24 off 12), Shreyas Iyer (28 off 10) and Venkatesh Iyer provided the death-overs surge. KKR hit 18 sixes in total.

Yet Punjab Kings pulled off the impossible. Jonny Bairstow smashed 108 not out off 48 balls, and Shashank Singh clubbed 68 not out off 28 as PBKS chased down 262 with eight balls to spare. It was the highest successful chase in T20 history.
3. 245/6 vs Kings XI Punjab: 12 May 2018, Indore
At the Holkar Stadium, KKR produced a batting masterclass led by Sunil Narine (75 off 36) and Dinesh Karthik (50 off 23). Chris Lynn (27 off 17) provided the early start, and Andre Russell (31 off 14) added a quickfire cameo as KKR raced to 245/6.

Andrew Tye picked up 4/41 for KXIP. In the chase, KL Rahul scored 66 off 29 balls, but KXIP could only manage 214/8, losing by 31 runs. This total stood as KKR’s highest for nearly six years until the 2024 batting explosion.
4. 235/6 vs Lucknow Super Giants: 5 May 2024, Lucknow
KKR continued their dominant 2024 campaign with another 230-plus total against LSG in Lucknow. The batting unit fired across all three phases to post 235/6 in 20 overs.

Contributions came from across the order as KKR maintained their aggressive intent on a flat surface. They went on to win the match, strengthening their position at the top of the points table during what would become their title-winning season.
5. 234/7 vs Lucknow Super Giants: 8 April 2025, Kolkata
The only 2025 entry on this list came at Eden Gardens against LSG. Batting second, KKR piled up 234/7 in a high-scoring chase but ended up on the losing side.

LSG’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs to deny KKR. Despite the defeat, the innings demonstrated that KKR’s batting depth carried forward from their 2024 title-winning campaign into the following season.
6. 232/2 vs Mumbai Indians: 28 April 2019, Kolkata
Andre Russell was at his devastating best during the 2019 season, and this innings at Eden Gardens was a prime example. He smashed an unbeaten 80 off 40 balls, hitting 8 sixes and 6 fours.

Shubman Gill scored 76 and Chris Lynn added 54 off 29 balls as KKR posted 232/2 with just two wickets lost. MI’s Hardik Pandya responded with a jaw-dropping 91 off 34 balls (9 sixes), but MI still fell 34 runs short at 198/7. Russell also took 2/25 with the ball to complete an all-round masterclass.
7. 223/6 vs Rajasthan Royals: 16 April 2024, Kolkata
Another high-scoring Eden Gardens affair in IPL 2024. KKR posted 223/6 in 20 overs, but Rajasthan Royals chased the total down.

The match highlighted a recurring theme across KKR’s 2024 season: the batting unit consistently posted massive scores, but three of the top ten totals came in losing causes. The Eden Gardens pitch offered little help to bowlers throughout the season.
8. 222/3 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: 18 April 2008, Bengaluru
The very first match in IPL history. Brendon McCullum walked out at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and smashed 158 not out off 73 balls, hitting 10 fours and 13 sixes.

The crowd in Bengaluru forgot their home team and stood in applause. KKR posted 222/3, and RCB folded for 82 in reply, losing by 140 runs. McCullum’s innings set the tone for what the IPL would become. Nearly two decades later, it remains one of the most iconic performances in tournament history.
9. 222/6 vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 21 April 2024, Kolkata
Phil Salt (48 off 14) provided the early explosion, and Shreyas Iyer (50 off 36) anchored the middle overs. KKR posted 222/6 at Eden Gardens and edged past RCB by just one run in one of the tightest finishes of IPL 2024.

Andre Russell (3/25) broke the RCB chase, and Phil Salt completed a stunning run-out off the final ball to seal the win. Karn Sharma’s three sixes off Mitchell Starc in the last over nearly pulled off a miracle, but KKR survived by the narrowest of margins.
10. 218/4 vs Kings XI Punjab: 27 March 2019, Kolkata
Another Russell-powered performance at Eden Gardens. Robin Uthappa anchored the innings with an unbeaten 67, while Nitish Rana scored 63 to build the middle-overs platform.

Andre Russell then smashed 48 off just 17 balls, benefiting from a no-ball reprieve when he was on 3. KKR posted 218/4, and KXIP reached only 190/4 despite David Miller’s 59 not out and Mayank Agarwal’s 58. Russell completed the all-round double with 2/21, earning Player of the Match.

KKR’s Batting DNA: Aggressive Opening, Explosive Finishing
Sunil Narine’s transformation from a mystery spinner into one of IPL’s most destructive openers defines modern KKR. He features in three of the top ten entries, all from the 2024 title-winning season.
Andre Russell appears across multiple eras as the franchise’s designated finisher. The 2024 season dominates this list with five entries, while 2019 contributes two. Three losses among the top ten show that even 220-plus is never safe at Eden Gardens, a ground where both teams tend to bat freely.
With IPL 2026 starting on March 28, this list stands as KKR’s definitive batting record going into the new season.
